Hops is a Vine Crop in Doloc Town, so plant it in the Vine Trellis or vine-type basin. General, Fungus and Shrub basins are different crop categories and will not replace the required vine setup. Older material lists January and March, but the current seasons and Hops seed research cost are to be confirmed in version 1.0.

Use the Vine Trellis basin

If Hops refuses to grow in a documented month, record the displayed season and seed message. Do not assume the trellis is wrong when the season may have changed. The current season rule remains to be confirmed.

Process Hops through the brewing chain

The documented chain is Hops to Brewing Cask, then Aging Rack, producing Beer and Aged Beer. That makes Hops a processing crop rather than an ingredient that must go straight to a cooking pot. Keep the production stages separate in storage and planning.

Place the trellis around the real workflow

Vine crops need their dedicated structure, so reserve enough accessible height and walking space around the trellis. Put storage near the later brewing machines only when the route does not block watering or harvesting. The source pack does not provide a verified best Hops layout.
