There is no verified best Doloc Town ranching layout in the collected version 1.0 evidence. The source-backed planning constraints are a reported 22×12 Large Animal Shed interior, a need for feeding and collection access, and machine access to storage within two tiles horizontally or vertically. Use those constraints to build four zones, but treat the final arrangement as to be confirmed until it is timed in game.
Design for the daily loop, not maximum decoration
A practical ranch route must support feeding, animal access, collection, processing and storage. Put those actions in the order they happen instead of filling the interior first and finding a path later. The source pack provides planning clues but no current finished layout that can be called optimal.
Set one measurable goal such as reducing walking or preventing blocked machines. A layout can look tidy and still require repeated crossings. Without an original timed comparison, “best” remains unsupported.
Use the reported 22×12 interior as a draft grid
The current community Large Animal Shed entry reports a 22×12 interior. That grid is useful for a paper plan, but it must be checked against the actual building preview. Door tiles, fixed objects or interaction clearance can reduce usable space.
Mark the entrance and reserve a central lane before assigning zones. Do not publish exact object coordinates until the layout has been built in version 1.0. The planned diagram is an original asset, not a copy of a player screenshot.
Keep the feeding zone accessible
Place feed access where it can be checked without walking through every animal. Protect crop areas because recent footage shows animals can eat ground plants even when trough feed is available. A controlled feeding patch belongs outside the main production route if Feather testing is planned.
The source pack does not establish an ideal number of troughs or animals per section. Those ratios are to be confirmed. Start below capacity and observe congestion before adding more.
Keep storage beside processing machines
The beginner footage reports that machines can draw from storage positioned within two tiles above, below, left or right. This supports placing a Shelf directly beside a processing cluster. It does not prove diagonal access or unlimited range.
Build one small processing and storage zone, then test each machine. Keep collection output on the side facing the walking lane so pickup does not require circling the machine. Exact machine combinations depend on the products unlocked in the save.
Reserve a clear walking lane
A central lane can connect the entrance, feeding, collection and processing zones without repeated backtracking. Side branches should be short enough that animals or placed objects do not block the route. This is a planning principle derived from the daily task sequence, not a verified coordinate map.
Time one full morning loop before and after moving the zones. Record feeding and collection separately so the source of any improvement is visible. No timing result is published yet because the required 1.0 build has not been made.
Compare small and large sheds by workload
The larger interior and reported capacity create more options, but expansion also increases travel and maintenance. Current notes suggest early Fish Farming can be easier to maintain away from the farm than Ranching. That observation does not make it a universal replacement for animals.
Choose the building around the products and daily attention the save actually needs. The source pack does not provide a verified efficiency threshold. Upgrade only when the smaller route is the real constraint.
