Deep Forest is the wooded region that holds two of Doloc Town's most-asked-about landmarks: the deer statue and its freshwater pond, and the mountain cliff tied to an old achievement lead. This page collects what the source pack supports about the region in one place, and hands each detailed answer to its owning page.
The deer statue pond
The freshwater pond beside the deer statue is the community's reported Golden Fish location. Multiple player records point to that landmark, and an older fishing table lists Deep Forest Freshwater with Fishing Tool Level 1. Season, weather and catch chance remain to be confirmed, so treat the pond as the supported route rather than a guaranteed first cast.
The fishing specifics — rod reports, controlled test method and the alternate Port claim — are owned by the Golden Fish location guide.
What the deer statue does
The statue itself is a landmark interaction, not just a fishing marker. Early Access hidden-achievement records include an action of giving a Radish to the deer statue, grouped with other reported triggers rather than confirmed 1.0 instructions. If you are already fishing at the pond, carrying one Radish tests the lead in the same trip.
The full reported achievement list and its evidence status live in the hidden achievement guide. Back up the save before one-off experiments and record the build number if anything triggers.
Routes, scrap and safety
Deep Forest rewards the same route habits as the rest of the wasteland: pick through trash and loose scrap on every pass, learn the exit paths before fighting, and leave areas that your current gear cannot handle. Bring a weapon you have already upgraded rather than testing a new one here, because the region's enemies hit harder than town-side strays. The beginner guide's exploration notes apply here directly — the region sits past the early farm loop, so hostile encounters are more common than in town.
The source pack does not include a publishable map of the region. Follow in-game paths and record your own landmarks instead of trusting coordinate lists from older versions; 1.0 reshaped several outdoor areas.
Older leads to treat carefully
Two older leads are tied to this region and both are unverified in 1.0: the mountain cliff leap reported behind the Leap of Faith achievement, and version-dependent fish tables that name Deep Forest Freshwater as a fishing ground. Neither should be upgraded to fact without a current capture.
If you confirm a trigger or a catch condition in the current client, record the game version, the exact action and the location state. That is the evidence this site needs before publishing a confirmed answer.
Sources and evidence status
The pond landmark and fishing table line come from the community fish record and the older cooking and fishing table; the Radish statue lead from the community achievement records; the route habits from the beginner walkthrough. Research was last checked on September 5, 2026.
